Increases in consumption are ironically caused by the prohibition designed to reduce consumption. The black market is expanded by the large profits available. When drugs are banned, a black market is created, pushing up prices, and making attractive profits for those willing to break the law. But Scott's views on drugs were something I had not come across before, whether they are original or not. It is mostly a book about global warming, and the consequences for New Zealand. It's a stupid idea anyway isn't it? Drugs are bad so they should be illegal.īut then I was reading this book, 'Fortress New Zealand' by Robin Scott. ![]() If anybody had ever suggested to me that all illegal drugs should be decriminalized, I would probably have thought of them as crazy, or a hippie.
